Focusing on Steam - itch will get less builds, but more insights

We have good news and bad news. Tl:Dr

  • there will likely be no more itch-builds until the final release
  • reason being: we are in a period of high focus and this focus is steam
  • we will be back on release!
  • we do plan on doing more dev logs, and plan on posting to itch, too

Unfortunately, the build we have recently put here will likely be the last for a while. The reason for this is: we need to focus on our steam release for now.

What? Is Valve not allowing us to publish this game elsewhere? No, not exactly. But they do provide tools we really want to integrate in our game and this means our game will not properly run without the steam environment for now.

We have a very good reason tho and ironically it is accessibility:

Being able to customize how a game plays is crucial for people with physical disabilities and we are not aware of Godot tools, that excel at this on the same level that Steam Input does.

While we do plan on integrating Steam Tools in a manner that is easily to pull out so our final release can happen on Steam and Itch simultaneously, we do not want to maintain and publish two versions of the game during development.

We do encourage you to give your thoughts and maybe shift out opinion on this, after all: as an open source project we are always very open on the whole development and also open to receive feedback.

Also if you are invested into this project and want to help out with hunting bugs, you are very welcome to reach out and get access to beta testing on Steam.

Expect more Blog posts tho. These can be put on itch without much extra work. :)
